Correcting errors in the ELE classroom

DESCRIPTION:

In this course, we will examine theoretical concepts regarding various types of errors, the different methods for correcting them, and how to apply correction techniques in the ELE classroom.


WHO IS THE COURSE GEARED TOWARD?

Teachers of Spanish as a foreign language (with or without prior teaching experience) who are interested in exploring how to handle and correct errors.


DO YOU NEED TO BECOME A LICENSED TEACHER OR HAVE ANY KIND OF PREVIOUS ACCREDITATION?No.


THE MINIMUM LEVEL OF SPANISH A STUDENT NEEDS:

Native Spanish speaker or level C1 for non-native speakers.


CONTENTS:

The course is divided into three lessons. The first deals with theoretical questions surrounding errors, as well as strategies for self-correction. The second lesson focuses on correcting spoken texts, and the third lesson centers on correcting written texts.

DOES THE COURSE CONTENT SOMEHOW RELATE TO ANOTHER COURSE FOR SPANISH TEACHERS AT TÍA TULA?

To a lesser extent, some of the contents relate to the standard in-school course.

  • Materials (a document containing the theory we are going to work with, and a selection of written and spoken texts for students learning Spanish as a foreign language)

METHOD OF INSTRUCTION: Lessons via Skype.


PROFILE OF THE COURSE INSTRUCTOR:

A practicing Spanish instructor with a university degree in philology and a specialization in teaching Spanish as a foreign language, as well as years of experience in this field and training ELE teachers. The instructor continues to teach Spanish to foreign students at Tía Tula while leading the training course and/or re-training teachers.

TOTAL COURSE DURATION:

From one to four weeks; this basically depends on the student´s availability to complete the lessons.


WHAT INFORMATION DOES THE CERTIFICATE CONTAIN?

In addition to the student´s identifying information, the certificate includes the name of the course, the number of certified hours, and the official status of the Instituto Cervantes accredited center. The certificate can be sent by mail to anywhere in the world (shipping costs are included in the price of the course).
