ICT of teaching ELE
COURSE / WORKSHOP:
ICT of teaching ELE: Pedagogical practice and implementation

DESCRIPTION:

Reviewing different kinds of ICT and incorporating it into the ELE classroom. ICT encompasses technologies oriented to information, communication and audiovisual reproduction (e.g., the Internet, educational platforms, social networks, and multimedia files). In foreign language teaching, ICT is used to facilitate learning and as a tool to enrich content, thereby making them more appealing to students.

WHO IS THE COURSE GEARED TOWARD?

Teachers of Spanish as a foreign language (with or without prior teaching experience) who are interested in applying new technologies in their Spanish classes. Examples include the Internet, educational platforms, social networks, and multimedia resources.

DO YOU NEED TO BECOME A LICENSED TEACHER OR HAVE ANY KIND OF PREVIOUS ACCREDITATION? No

THE MINIMUM LEVEL OF SPANISH A STUDENT NEEDS:

Native Spanish speaker or level C1 for non-native speakers.

CONTENTS:

The course is divided into two parts. In the first section, we will review the pros and cons of using different tools and technologies (such as software and educational platforms) in an ELE setting and incorporating them into the classroom. We will consider various examples, then evaluate how these technological tools and applications positively or negatively impact the process of teaching and learning a foreign language. In addition, we will explore how they most benefit this process (for example, if the tools are more effective for learning or practicing grammar, vocabulary, communicative situations, or developing specific skills).

In the second part, we will examine various digital language samples, both real and adapted (such as podcasts and videos), as well as different suggestions for pedagogically applying them. In this way, teachers will be able to complete an exercise whereby they create activities based on an example previously presented or of their own choice. The aim is to allow teachers to get the most out of the tools they have analyzed so that, after the course, they can effectively apply them in their classes.
